Guwahati, June 2: Sunil Gogoi, a PHED contractor who complained about corruption in the schemes implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which led to the arrest of an Executive Engineer level official, was brutally murdered in Dhakuakhana in North Lakhimpur district of Assam last night.
The murderers also charred his body. Police said that his severed head was missing, and an investigation is on to recover it.
It has been learned that the deceased was also an active member of the ruling BJP.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ranoj Pegu reached the spot this morning and informed that the state CID team was en route and a high-level inquiry would be conducted. He also met the relatives of Sunil Gogoi at his home and assured them that the murderers would be arrested soon.
