Guwahati, Feb 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on Saturday for his 2-day visit to the state of Assam. During his visit, he is scheduled to launch projects worth over Rs 11,000 crores.
He was welcomed by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with traditional dance performances by various troupes right outside the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The highlight of the welcome ceremony was the lighting of over 1 lakh diyas in Guwahati’s Khanapara Vetenery field, a reminiscent of Ayodhya-style welcome to Lord Ram. This also come after the consecration of new Ram Lalla’s idol at the Ayodhya temple on January 22, which was led by PM Modi himself.
PM Modi will stay for the night at Koinadhora State Guest House.
Later on Saturday night, he will also address Assam BJP’s state core committee, to be attended by Assam CM and other prominent BJP leaders to deliberate on party affairs.
On Sunday, PM Modi is slated to deliver a speech at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, an event anticipated to draw around 1.5 lakh party supporters. This occasion will witness the unveiling of several state and central projects.
Among the significant projects, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for the Kamakhya temple corridor, a six-lane road from the new airport terminal in Guwahati, the FIFA-standard upgrade of Nehru Stadium, and a dynamic sports complex in Chandrapur, Guwahati. He will also initiate the construction of an integrated new building for the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, along with the proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital.
The Prime Minister’s agenda also includes inaugurating the newly constructed four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri in Sonitpur District. In total, PM Narendra Modi is set to unveil mega projects worth approximately Rs 11,000 crores during his two-day visit to Assam.
