Guwahati, April 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday formally inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Changsari near Guwahati.
After the inauguration, PM Modi inspected the newly constructed buildings of the first AIIMS in the Northeast.
The ambitious project has been built at a coast of more than Rs 1,120 crore.
While addressing a mammoth gathering, PM Modi said, “No matter where I go and talk about the development in India, some people complain that they have not received any credit when they ruled.”
“The previous government was hungry for credit. On the auspicious occasion of Bihu, Assam and entire Northeast gets AIIMS and other healthcare infrastructure projects,” Modi stated.
He further said, “We work with ‘Seva Bhaav’ for the people. The policy, intentions and loyalty in this government are not determined by any selfishness but the spirit of ‘nation first, countryman first.”
Modi also said social infrastructure has significantly improved in the Northeast in last nine years.
The hospital will start operating with 160 beds.
The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Modi in May 2017.
