Assam: Poacher apprehended with 3.731 kg of ivory in Tamulpur

Guwahati, Feb 17: In an operation conducted on Friday, a dreaded poacher was apprehended by a joint team of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), SSB and Tamulpur Range in Assam’s Tamulpur district.

The arrested poacher has been identified as Rinku Kakati (33), a resident of Pub-Kachukata.

The joint team recovered ivory weighing approximately 3.731 kg from his possession.

According to reports, the operation took place in the Pub-Kachukata locality of Tamulpur.

“We have got an secret information regarding the presence of the poacher in the Tamulpur locality. We have launched an joint operation and nabbed the poacher and seized 3.731 kg of ivory from his possesion,” said a forest official.

He also informed that a case has been registered against the poacher under the Wildlife Protection Act.
