Guwahati, May 11: As part of the ongoing crackdown on individuals accused of promoting anti-national sentiments, Assam Police arrested two more persons—Jabbu Islam from Biswanath and Rahul Amin from Morigaon—on Saturday.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a statement shared on Facebook, said, “A total of 50 anti-nationalists are now enjoying prison hospitality. We are committed to continue our mission to detain Pakistan supporters in our state.”

The arrests are linked to the online fallout from the recent Pahalgam terror attack, with authorities tracking individuals allegedly sympathising with Pakistan or endorsing Islamic terrorism. Those detained face prosecution under the National Security Act (NSA).
“Assam will not tolerate any individual who, directly or indirectly, supports or defends Pakistan in connection with the heinous attack in Pahalgam,” Sarma reiterated.
The state police have intensified surveillance of social media platforms and warned that the number of arrests is likely to increase.
