Guwahati, July 28: The Assam police arrested one suspected Jehadi linkman, belonging to the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) module, who has been accused of assisting a notorious Jehadi from Bangladesh, Mehboob, in his home.

The arrested Jehadi linkman has been identified as Abbas Ali, resident of Goalpara’s Pakhiura village.

“The arrested accused is a sleeper cell man who works for the ABT. Abbas Ali has been providing all logistics support to the core ABT member Mehboob when he came to Assam in December to carry out his notorious module,” said a police official.

Talking to media persons, DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said, “Many ABT and Al-Qaeda linkmen, busted not only in Assam but also from Bangalore and Bengal, (have) mentioned that in a video released by one of the Al-Qaeda’s kingpin Jawaharlal, where he himself appealed to proceed with Hijrah operation which means move in to Assam their international cadres and planning big which is a matter of concern but Assam police is keeping very keen eyes on each and every movement.”

Mahanta mentioned another matter of concern is Al-Qaeda is now releasing magazines and videos every quarterly that too in Bengali language to radicalize the youths.

“Assam police though (has)arrested few linkman who hail from Assam and one named Akhtar Hussain from Bangalore who is the resident of Katigorah constituency of Cachar district. Akhtar was staying in Bangalore working as a delivery boy in a food company. His father is the ex-GP President of Katigorah’s Telika village, like ways many are in radar and will get busted soon,” Mahanta stated.

DGP Mahanta further stated that these Jihadi modules are trying to influence youths of Assam, though the youths of Assam do not fall in their trap easily.

He mentioned that those JMB cadres which got arrested earlier by Assam Police, after rehabilitation, are now working with Police and are visiting mosques and urging youths not to follow Hadith advocacy.

He further urged the youths from Islamic faith to read Quaran Shariff as it mentions about the upliftment of the society and maintaining brotherhood and the holy book doesn’t mention about killing Kafirs or behead persons of other faiths.
