Guwahati, Mar 6: Assam police arrested another person in connection with multi-million Crypto scam in South Salmara Mankachar on Thursday.
The person has been identified as- Mohabur Rahaman Ahmed (29), a resident of Tumni Simlakandi village of South Salmara Mankachar district.
After getting inputs on Crypto scam, a team supervised by South Salmara Mankachar Additional Superintendent of police (HQ), led by Sub-Inspector Jayanta Rajkhowa of South Salmara Police station launched an operation and successfully apprehended the suspect.
“During investigation we have found the accused was an active participant in the crypto scam, the downline of arrested accused Nur Alom Ahmed and Akhiruzzaman Ahmed and upline of Ibrahim Ali. His role involved financial transactions and recruitment in the fraudulent cryptocurrency network,” said an police official.
The following items were seized during operation are- One Realme handset, one Airtel SIM, One HP laptop, ten ATM cards, two bank passbooks, five cheque books,two ATM swipe machines and cash amounting to Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
The arrested accused was forwarded to judicial custody with a prayer for police remand. Further investigation is underway to identify more links in the cyber fraud network.
