Guwahati, Feb 28: The South Salmara-Mankachar Police on Friday busted an organized racket involved in forging and distributing fake PAN cards across India.
Acting on specific intelligence, a team led by ASP HQ, OC Mankachar PS, and SI(P) Sonudev Barman conducted a raid at the residence of Zamir Hussain, a resident of Thakuranbari Mankachar area.
During the operation, police recovered 20 fake PAN cards in sealed covers. The police also seized approximately 250 forged PAN application forms attached with fraudulent Voter ID cards and seals.
During preliminary questioning, the arrested accused, Zamir Hussain, confessed to running the racket in collaboration with Sajidul Islam, the owner of Ayan Mobile Shop, Thakuranbari. The duo allegedly manufactured fake PAN cards and supplied them across India.

However, the other accused- Sajidul Islam is currently absconding and police have launched a manhunt to track him down.
The police also suspect the involvement of a larger network in the operation and further investigations are ongoing.
