Guwahati, Feb 13: Assam is rolling out the red carpet for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on February 24, with a mix of cultural splendour and economic ambition. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has mobilized an army of over 65 lakh workers to greet the PM, setting the stage for an unforgettable visit.
A major highlight of the visit is “Jhumuir Binondini,” a breathtaking cultural showcase at Sarusajai Stadium. In a dazzling spectacle of movement and music, 8,000 artists from across Assam will bring the Jhumur dance to life, their synchronized steps echoing the beats of the traditional metal drum. This grand performance pays homage to Assam’s vibrant tea community, ensuring its artistic legacy shines on a global stage. The event is expected to resonate as a moment of pride and celebration.
The next day, February 25, PM Modi will inaugurate “Advantage Assam 2.0” at Khanapara—an investment summit poised to redefine the state’s industrial future. With a staggering ₹3 lakh crore investment pipeline, the summit is set to turbocharge Assam’s economy, unlocking opportunities in manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, and beyond.
Assam CM Sarma has been on a mission, crisscrossing the globe to court investors. From high-powered roadshows to a strategic visit to Singapore, where he engaged with over 100 top industrialists, Assam is making a bold pitch as the next big investment hub of Southeast Asia. With an expected investment of nearly ₹3 lakh crore, the summit is set to transform the state’s industrial landscape and position Assam as the investment hub of Southeast Asia.
These efforts aim to strengthen Assam’s economic potential and create vast employment opportunities for its youth, government officials say.
