Guwahati, April 24: Abdul Noor alias Riju, the prime accused in the sensational Jorhat murder case, was shot during a police encounter on April 23 while allegedly attempting to escape custody.

According to reports, the incident occurred at night while he was being taken for investigation.

“Despite repeated warnings, Abdul Noor continued attempting to flee from police custody. We fired at him to stop his escape,” said a police official.

After being shot in the leg, he was admitted to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).

He is currently undergoing treatment under police supervision.
