Assam: Railway Employee Tragically Mowed Down by Freight Train at Kamakhya Station

Guwahati, May 10: In a tragic incident that occurred at approximately 8:43 AM today, Swati Chakraborty, an employee of the Railway Hospital, lost her life after being hit by a speeding freight train while crossing the railway gate at Kamakhya Station in Maligaon.

According to reports, Swati Chakraborty was on her way to work from her residence in Kamakhya Nagar, Pandu, when the accident took place. She was crossing the railway tracks through the designated gate when she was struck by the oncoming train, resulting in her immediate death at the scene.

The news of her untimely demise has cast a shadow of grief over the Northeast Frontier Railway Central Hospital and the entire railway township of Maligaon. Swati Chakraborty was a well-respected hospital staff member. Her loss has deeply saddened her colleagues and the community.

The NF Railway Mazdoor Union, Maligaon branch, expressed profound sorrow at Swati Chakraborty’s sudden passing and extended its condolences to her bereaved family during this difficult time.

Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic accident. The railway authorities have also pledged to provide necessary support and assistance to the deceased’s family.
