Assam: School student killed after massive tree fall on an autorickshaw in Morigaon

Guwahati, May 28: In a tragic incident, a student lost his life after a massive tree fell on him while he was on his way to school in autorickshaw in Assam’s Morigaon district on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Kaushik Amfi, resident of Dhupguri in Morigaon.

According to reports, the incident happened at Dighalbari area when he was on his way to school in autorickshaw.

“A large tree uprooted and fell on to the autorickshaw. Kaushik could not come out from the autorickshaw and he was trapped inside the vehicle and died. The locals rushed him to hospital but he was declared brought dead,” said a police official.

The loss of Kaushik has deeply saddened the local community, as he was a promising student with a bright future ahead of him.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his shock and deep sorrow over the loss of lives of Kaushik Amphi, a student from Dhupguri area in Morigaon district, who died on the spot due to a fallen tree during the storm, and Putul Gogoi, a worker at the NHPC project in Gerukamukh, who died in a landslide at the site.
