Guwahati, June 18: The SDRF-NDRF team has gone on a rescue operation at Charkholia sapori (sandbar) to bring back the medical team, who had gone their for medical camp.
A medical team went to Charkholia sapori(sandbar) in Dibrugarh on Saturday after a medical camp was stuck in the sapori due to low visibility.
The team consist of Bishal Saikia, District project officer, Dr.Deep Jyoti Deka, medical officer, Sidhanath Gogoi, Lab.Tech, Apul Kumar Das, Pharmacist, Damayanti Das, ANM, Himani Roy, ANM, Ramakant Yadav, casual worker, Shyam Yadav, driver, Ramchandra Yadav, Majhi, Pramod Dutta, Cook, Jibon Paul, Helper.
According reports, the team went to Charkholia sapori for a medical camp on Saturday and due to rising water and low visibility they were not able to come to the other side.
“The medical team was stuck due to low visibility. Today, SDRF and NFRF team will go to Charkholia sapori to bring them back,” said Dibrugarh, ASDMA project officer Deepjyoti Hatikakoti.
Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said, “SDRF and NFRF team has went to Charkholia sapori to rescue the team. Due to heavy current in the river, the team has been facing problem to reached the area,”.
Erosion has also been reported in Kolia ghat area and backside of Little place hotel in Dibrugarh.
Meanwhile, restoration work is underway to repair the damage.To conrol the erosion, Geo bags, and mega bags were used.
“Every year due to erosion huge hectare of crop land were washed away into the river. Last year, the massive erosion has washed away more than 40 hectares of crop land in the Maijan area. We want permanent solution to stop the erosion,” said a resident of Dibrugarh.
