Guwahati, Oct 7: Acting on credible information regarding a possible drug consignment, Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) seized 87.4 grams of suspected heroin and arrested six drug peddlers at Amtola in Sonapur on Saturday morning.
The drug peddlers have been identified as: Binud Medhi, Marshal Suting, Raj Thapa, Bicky Lengdo, Donbok and Sahara Begum.
“We have recovered 30 plastic vials and three numbers of Tobacco boxes containing 87.4 grams of suspected heroin, one empty tobacco box, five numbers of mobile phones, four numbers of syringes and cash rupees 4,700,” said a police official.
The arrested persons and seized items have been handed over to Sonapur police station for further necessary actions as per law
The arrested persons have been booked under various sections of the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) act.
“Our crackdown against drugs will continue. So far, we have seized huge quantity of drugs,” said a police official.
