Assam: Tea factory employee abducted by suspected ULFA(I) militants from Jagun in Tinsukia

Dibrugarh, Oct 24: An employee of a tea garden was abducted by suspected ULFA(I) militants from Jagun area in Assam’s Tinsukia on Wednesday night.

The employee has been identified as Gautam Basumatary.

According to reports, Basumatary was abducted by an armed gang from the tea factory.

The tea factory is owned by Radha Chetia, a well-known businessman in Jagun.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a search operation to find the whereabouts of Basumatary.

“We have got the information and reached the spot and started our investigation. Right now can’t say much about the case,” said a police official.

Sources said ULFA(I) is behind the abduction because it has demanded money from the tea factory owner. “It is not the first time that abduction has been done for money. Earlier, ULFA(I) abducted many businessmen and tea garden employees for money. It has been seen that most of the abduction happen during winter times,” said a source.
