Assam, Dec 26: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman was brutally attacked with sharp weapons and subsequently burned to death. The assailants targeted her, alleging that she was practising witchcraft, as reported by a police officer on Monday in Assam’s Sonitpur district.
In connection to the brutal attack on a woman accused of witchcraft in Assam’s Sonitpur district, four individuals have been apprehended by the police, while two others remain at large. Additional Superintendent of Police Madhurima Das stated that a search operation has been initiated to apprehend the absconding duo.
Sangita Kati, the victim, faced a brutal assault orchestrated by her neighbour, Suraj Baghwar, who had enlisted individuals from outside their Nij Bahbari village. The assailants, reportedly in an inebriated state, proceeded to tie up her husband before setting Sangita ablaze.
The neighbors, entangled in a longstanding dispute over various issues, were allegedly motivated by these conflicts. Baghwar, in particular, had accused the victim of practising witchcraft, further intensifying the tensions leading to the tragic incident.
