Assam Transport Corporation’s passenger bus catches fire in Tinsukia, no injuries reported

Guwahati, June 1: A passenger bus standing at a depot in Assam’s Tinsukia district caught fire on Thursday, June 1. The bus’ registration number was identified as ‘AS12 BC 9447’. Although the cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Although, no injuries have been reported.

According to reports, the reason behind the cause of fire is said to be short circuit.

This incident comes at a time when several employees who were laid off from their jobs is protesting against the transport agency.

On Tuesday, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) said that it will fire up to 771 employees who were recruited illegally.

it is alleged that a total of 2,274 employees were hired without following proper procedures when Khagendra Nath Chetia served as Managing Director as stated in an official notice.

Also, a heated argument broke out at Guwahati’s Paltanbazar office following the announcement of the decision.
