Guwahati, May 9: Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, Assam Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly sharing provocative content on Facebook expressing support for Pakistan and promoting hate speech.
The accused have been identified as Abubin Miraz Uddin Sheikh from Alomganj and Arif Rahman from Puber Gaon village. The duo was detained on Friday after authorities received reports that videos shared from their accounts could incite communal disharmony and threaten public order.

In response, law enforcement agencies have stepped up monitoring of digital platforms for content that may disrupt social harmony during this sensitive period.
“We are analysing the material they posted. They have been booked under relevant sections of the law concerning the promotion of enmity between groups and disruption of public tranquillity,” said a police official.
