Assam: World’s tallest statue of Bir Lachit Barphukan expected to be ready by Jan 2024

Guwahati, July 11: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday informed that the world’s tallest statue of Bir Lachit Barphukan is expected to be ready by January 2024.

This will be 125-foot bronze statue of Lachit Barphukan at his memorial in Hollongapar, Jorhat.

He said this after visiting the construction site at Hollongapar, Jorhat District. on Monday.

CM also met the engineers of the construction agency and asked them to complete the construction of the statue as per the schedule.

He also paid his richest tribute to one of the hero’s of Assam.

While talking to reporters, CM said around 50 bigha land has been taken from the public for the construction of the iconic project and so far 12 per cent work of the project has been completed.

The statue is being built at a cost of Rs 120 crore which is said to be Assam’s glorious tribute to the legendary General who saved the state from the Mughals.

The state government has also released a video documentary.
