Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Rakesh Reddy said they were brought to Dibrugarh police station for investigation.
The latest development comes after the probe was taken over by the CID and an SIT was formed.
A lookout notice had been issued against the couple and four others after they failed to appear before the police following a notice issued to them in the wake of the arrest of the prime accused, 22-year-old Bishal Phukan in the case.
On Wednesday, in a video message, the actress had announced that she would “surrender” and “cooperate with the police” regarding the case and called the allegations against her as baseless and fake.
“I have decided to surrender to police. I will cooperate with police… I have not done anything, I am innocent. In the court of law it will be proved,” Sumi had said in the video message. She further said she has faced lot of mental harassment in these past few days due to the news on her.
Phukan, who owned the company that allegedly duped investors, was arrested along with his manager in Dibrugarh last week.
