Guwahati, April 22: Assam ’s dynamic electronic music scene is hitting national highs, with three homegrown talents — Aditya Upadhyaya (Guwahati), Dibyajit Ray (Goalpara), and Nobajyoty Boruah (Lakhimpur) — securing spots among the Top 10 finalists of ‘Resonate: The EDM Challenge’, a flagship feature of the ‘Create in India’ initiative under the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.
Organised by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in partnership with the Indian Music Industry (IMI), Resonate is a nationwide call for innovation in Electronic Dance Music (EDM), spotlighting rising talent from India and beyond. The finalists were announced on April 12, 2025, after a rigorous selection process conducted by top music industry professionals.

All three Assamese artists will perform live at the WAVES Summit, scheduled in Mumbai from May 1–4, 2025, showcasing the diversity and creative force of India’s Northeastern electronic music community.
Nobajyoty Boruah stands out among the finalists for his unconventional entry into the industry. “I started my musical journey inspired by the rise of Electronic Music and learned music production through YouTube before pursuing professional audio engineering,” he said. A certified audio engineer with experience in Chennai and Bangalore, Boruah cites Indian composers like A.R. Rahman, Amit Trivedi, and Anurag Saikia as his inspirations, alongside international icons such as Skrillex, Zedd, and Porter Robinson. His remix of Salim–Sulaiman’s “Eik Martaba”, released by Merchant Records and distributed by Warner Music India, is among his proudest accomplishments.

Fellow finalist Aditya Upadhyaya (IG: @skieasapartmusic) expressed his excitement: “WAVES is a very good opportunity for us in the EDM community since the community in India is still growing. I’m really grateful to be in the top 10 finalists, and this will be a great turning point of my career.”
‘Resonate: The EDM Challenge’ aims to uncover and elevate emerging Indian and international talent in electronic music production and DJing. The initiative not only celebrates musical creativity but also strengthens India’s standing as a global hub for music fusion and electronic artistry.
