Tura, Nov 7: The Meghalaya Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Tura municipal Board conducted awareness program on alternatives to ban single use of Plastic.
The MSPCB issued a notification on ban on single use plastic in the year Feb 2022.
Under the banned items plastic items with less than 120microns like plastic cutlery cups , non moven bags, etc were compelled.
On Tuesday, the program was conducted to create awareness among the masses along with targeting marketing areas and institutions.
Speaking to Hub News Rikre R Marak ,Assistant Environmental Engineer, MSPCB said “we have a 2 day program and we have done it in Donbosco School, Tura market and govt college, Ringre Urban Hub in Tura. On 8th we will be conducting in Donbosco college, Nakham bazar, sohra complex Dakopgre, Tura”
This is the 1st program for Alternatives to Banned single use of plastic. We will continue with this kind of awareness programs in other Districts of garo hills soon, she added.
Many single banned plastics were also displayed for students and others who were attending the program.
