Tura, Nov 29: A’chik Youth Welfare Organisation (AYWO) has written a letter to the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner against the illegal supply of sugar from Garo Hills to the Bangladesh.
The organization submitted the letter to the DC on Wednesday.
AYWO claimed that illegal supply of sugar to Bangladesh has been taking place round the clock for the last few months.
They mentioned that around 30 – 40 trucks are plying daily through South Garo Hills to Bangladesh without valid documents.
The organization further stated that the illegal sugar smuggling is only benefiting a few whereas the government is losing precious revenue.
Given the gravity of the situation, the organisation has requested the DC to enquire into the matter and take necessary action.
