Babupara Durga Puja Pandal blends tradition into modernity, takes visitors back to the past

Must read

Tura, Oct 21: In a creative twist to this year’s Babupara Durga Puja in Tura, the Tura Natya Samiti has delved into reviving forgotten handcrafts, combining them with modern elements to create a unique spectacle. The theme of ‘Mrito Shilpo and Puja Samagri’ aims to transport visitors back to a simpler, more natural time.

The decorations predominantly feature bamboo and clay sourced from skilled artisans in the remote villages of Meghalaya and Assam. With stress on being eco-consciousness, the committee has strictly prohibited the use of single-use plastics throughout the event. The entire decoration process spanned nearly a month, with even banana leaves sourced from Rombagre for prasad, replacing conventional disposable plates.

Stepping into the mandap is akin to stepping into past, a time when everything was crafted with care and natural elements.

With the hard work and unique take, the organisers expect around 60,000 visitors to visit their pandal over the next three days.

The festivities are set to unfold with a Maha Puja in the morning, followed by a series of cultural events catering to both kids and youngsters during the day. As night descends, the atmosphere will transform with captivating musical performances.

To ensure the safety and comfort of all devotees, the premises is equipped with surveillance, fire extinguishers, and well-organized entry and exit points.

In addition to the innovative theme, the Tura Natya Samiti has also recognized the tireless efforts of municipality workers who work tirelessly to maintain the cleanliness and well-being of the town. A total of 10 workers nominated by the Tura Municipal Corporation were felicitated for their dedication and hard work by the committee.
