Tura, March 20: Rewards and recognition play a crucial role in motivating and encouraging people to do their best. When efforts are noticed and appreciated, people and communities feel motivated to keep improving and inspire others to follow their example. Embodying this spirit, the BAKRIM-2025, an inter-village championship, recently concluded at Dadenggre playground in West Garo Hills.

By giving awards to villages and individuals for achievements in areas such as farming, cleanliness, health, and community initiatives, the aim of the event was to foster rural development, enhance community participation, and increase awareness of key government schemes.

BAKRIM-2025 began on March 10 and concluded on March 19 at Dadenggre playground, Dadenggre. The conclusion ceremony saw the presence of Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani, SDO Civil Dadenggre, Aditya Verma, and other official dignitaries, who gave prizes and cash rewards to the winners of Best Village Employment Council (VEC), Best Village Health Council (VHC), Best Self-Help Group (SHG), Best Farmer, Cleanest Village, Best PMAY House, Long-Live Award and to the winners of tug of war, volleyball and dance competition.

The main highlight of the closing ceremony was Kelson Marak, a 104-year oldest civilian attending the programme. The event also featured music, dance and exhibitions of handicrafts and agricultural produce, along with food and games stalls.

Modulgre village was adjudged the overall best village.
