BAKRIM 2025: Villages in West Garo Hills to compete for ₹1 Lakh ‘Best Village Award’

Tura, March 10: The biggest inter-village championships – BAKRIM 2025 is scheduled to be held on March 19 at Dadenggre playground, Tura.

Villages from across the district will compete in various competitions while also being judged on their performance in key government schemes.

The event will feature contests in wall painting, tug of war, volleyball, music and dance, handicrafts and agricultural displays.

Food and game stalls will add to the festivities, making it a grand celebration of talent and culture. Apart from these competitions, villages will also be evaluated for awards like Best Village Employment Council (VEC), Best Village Health Council (VHC), Best Self-Help Group (SHG), Best Farmer, Clean Village, Best PMAY House, and the Long-Live Award.

The biggest inter-village championships - BAKRIM 2025 is scheduled to be held on March 19 at Dadenggre playground, Tura.

The top-performing village will be awarded the Best Village Award, with total prizes worth up to ₹1,00,000.

Adding a unique touch to the event is Bapme, the official mascot of Bakrim 2025. A Tokay gecko native to Garo Hills, Bapme represents the balance between development and conservation.

Organisers are using the event to spread awareness about the importance of protecting local wildlife and preserving natural habitats.
