Agartala, Jan 10: The body of a Bangladeshi national, who had reportedly entered Tripura illegally, was handed over to Bangladeshi authorities on Thursday through the Khowai Puran Bazar checkpost by Tripura police.
The deceased, identified as Zahur Ali (55), hailed from Paschim Dulna village in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district, Bangladesh.
On January 6, the body of an unidentified male was discovered on the veranda of a shop near the Gournagar panchayat office under Khowai police station.
“The local police promptly transported the body to the district hospital morgue for further investigation. Identification was confirmed after locals recognized the deceased’s photograph circulated on social media,” said a police official.
Following a post-mortem examination and necessary administrative formalities, the body was repatriated to Bangladeshi authorities in a coffin through the Khowai Puran Bazar checkpost.
