Tura, Aug 28: The General Manager of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Abey Kuruvilla, on Wednesday inspected the Alotgre Cricket Ground in Tura.

The visit aimed to assess whether the ground and its facilities meet BCCI standards, in order to hold state-level matches in Tura.

Kuruvilla conducted a thorough survey of the cricket ground, including the outfield, stands, and training nets. He also examined the accommodation facilities, visiting three nearby hotels—Polo Orchid Hotel, C&C Hotel, and Moksh Villa. These hotels, located close to the Alotgre Stadium, collectively offer 50 rooms and various amenities for players and team staff.

During his visit, the Tura District Cricket Association (TDCA) and the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) also organized a programme to felicitate Kuruvilla, honouring him with traditional Garo attire, including the Kotip and Pandra.

In his speech, Kuruvilla acknowledged the logistical challenges posed by the distance between Tura and other major cities, expressing hope that improved road conditions could mitigate these issues. He also praised the scenic beauty he witnessed during his journey from Guwahati to Tura.
