Tura, June 10: The BJP MDC representing Tura, Bernard N Marak, who had earlier made much noise and refused to be part of the NPP led alliance in the GHADC, finally joined the coalition on Thursday by extending support to the Benedic Marak led Executive Committee.
“On the direction of my leaders and in appreciation of your initiative to clear the dues of GHADC employees for 8 months within July 2021, I would like to extend my support to your Executive Committee,” states the letter of Bernard Marak to the CEM.
In a separate post on his social media handle Bernard Marak states that he has extended support on the direction and consultation with his party president Ernest Mawrie and Meghalaya in-charge Dr. M Chuba Ao of the BJP.
At the time of the formation of the new EC the Tura BJP MDC had rebelled and refused to be a part of the new coalition. He was left in the lurch when his other party colleague and Dalu MDC Promod Koch joined the NPP led alliance leading to the new EC acquiring the much needed numbers for heading the new administration.
Though the Tura MDC supporting the ruling alliance raises its numbers further, yet, he is likely to be rewarded with a portfolio since all positions have since been filled up by those who reached out to the alliance at the initial stages of government formation.
