Shillong, July 28: BJP MDC from Tura, Bernard N. Marak was on Thursday brought back to Tura in West Garo Hills.
Till the time of filing this report, he was to be taken for medical examination and then to be produced in Court.
The BJP state vice president, who is also known as Rimpu, was on Tuesday (July 26, 2022) arrested from Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh, after he allegedly absconded following a sex racket being busted at his private farm house which led to the rescue of 5 minors and arrest of 73 persons.
On Wednesday afternoon he was produced before a magistrate’s court in Hapur city of UP by police.
He was arrested by UP police while traveling in a taxi in the northern state and police suspect that he was trying to enter Nepal from either Varanasi or Gorakhpur to escape the lookout notice and a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him after he failed to surrender despite orders to do so after a massive raid on his farmhouse, which led to arrest of dozens of men and women and seizure of illegal alcohol and even a large consignment of contraceptives.
A team of Meghalaya Police had gone to Hapur to bring Bernard back to the State.
