Shillong, July 4: Head of the Bangladesh delegation and Additional Director General, Region Commander, Chattogram Md Shazedur Rahman on Thursday claimed that there has been a decrease in Bangladeshi nationals going out to other countries.
“We don’t find any news that it is increasing. in Bangladesh our socio-economic condition is increasing so going to other countries is decreasing as per our data source,” Rahman told reporters after Inspectors General BSF – Region Commanders BGB level Border Co-ordination Conference, which concluded on Thursday.
On Sunday, the BSF had apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals – Mohibur Rehman (30), Kudus Miah (25), and Mubarak Hossain from inside Indian territory in East Khasi Hills district.
On preliminary questioning, the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals claimed that they illegally entered Indian territory with intention to go to Kashmir in search of jobs.
Rahman however claimed that he was not aware of such incident.
IG of BSF Meghalaya Frontier HS Dhillon however said that the BSF had apprehended a lot of Indian touts and booked them under variou sections of the law due to which there has been a decrease in the illegal crossing from Bangladesh to India.
“At the same time, we also shared our concern about the touts existing in Bangladesh and BGB has assured to take action against those touts,” he added.
