Gangtok, Aug 28: Former India national football team skipper Bhaichung Bhutia believes he deserves the AIFF presidential post as he feels he is more experienced and his credibility is far more superior than the other contender for the post.
As the AIFF has announced the election for the new presidential post, there were only two potential candidates- the legendary Bhaiching Bhutia and ex-India national football team goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey.
“I think I completely deserve this post because if you look at the other candidate in terms of experience and credibility I feel I can deliver,” said Bhutia who is contesting for the post of President of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Pressing for his candidature, he said he is already working with the government, has worked with the Federation team, worked with Football Association as a technical committee chairman, and worked with the Government of India in Mission Olympics team. He also mentioned about India’s spectacular performance in the recent Commonwealth Games.
“I am working so the experience is very very important and I think that is the reason why I feel a much more capable of delivering than Kalyan Choubey,” he said.
Bhutia has thrown his hat into the AIFF election ring even as former India National Football Team goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey, seen as the BJP candidate, has emerged as the frontrunner for the top job. Both the former players filed their nominations on Thursday.
The elections are slated for September 2, 2022.
