Ampati, July 26: The Ministry of Power, in association with the District Administration of South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, organized the two-day “Bijli Mahotsav”, as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, at Gasura and Anangpara villages on Monday and Tuesday respectively, to celebrate the collaboration between the Central and the State Governments.
This initiative aims at providing electricity connection to any left out economically weaker unelectrified and inaccessible villages.
Highlighting the key achievements of the power sector under the umbrella of ‘Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya- Power@2047′ for more public participation and getting across the developments in the power sector to the citizens at large, the weeklong celebration with cultural programs, nukkad nataks and screening of short films on the power sector, commenced on July 21 and culminate on July 31, 2022.
The celebration at Gasura was attended by BDO of Betasing, Leena Daring Sangma, Nodal Officer and General Manager of NEEPCO, Ranjan Mallick, Executive Engineer, MePDCL, CM Marak, VEC Secretary, community leaders and beneficiaries from the localities among others. The celebration at Anangpara was attended by Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officer of Zikzak, Dr. BBM Sangma, Nodal Officer and General Manager of NEEPCO, Ranjan Mallick, Executive Engineer, MePDCL, CM Marak and Nokma of Anangpara among many others.
Bijli Mahotsav in South Garo Hills
The Bijli Mahotsav was also celebrated at Karukol Jalaigre Village South Garo Hills District.
Rongara Siju Constituency MLA, Rakkam A Sangma, while highlighting the benefits of electricity, applauded the power Department of the South Garo Hills District for their selfless effort in bringing back the electrical normalcy in the district after the major setbacks in the recent flash floods.
He also sought for people’s cooperation in maintaining the good flow of electricity while informing about the other projects and schemes that are being implemented by the Government to uplift the rural masses.
