BJP Garo hills unit prepared to contest Rajabala by-election

Tura, Aug 22: A high level meeting of the top leaders of BJP Garo hills unit representing different Districts and Mandals held recently in Tura has decided to persuade their party high command to contest the by-election to Rajabala assembly seat which is vacant since 2020 following the sudden death of its sitting Congress legislator Dr Azad Zaman.

In the meeting, the leaders decided to approached the BJP State President Ernest Mawrie and Meghalaya In-charge Dr. M Chuba Ao to put up a party candidate for Rajabala by-poll, which is likely to be announced by the Election commission of India sometime this year.

“The party unit from Garo hills region as per the ground situation it is learned that maximum chances are there to win this by-election. As the time for next general Assembly election is only one and half year away, the party in Garo hills has already started the ground preparation in all the Districts and Mandals,” stated State General Secretary, Thomas N Marak.

“After interaction with poor people of Garo hills from different Districts and mandals by leaders of BJP Garo hills, the poor people have expressed that since Independence of our country no other Prime Minister has given the direct benefits and welfare schemes to them other than Narendra Modi. After getting Rs 500 per month in Jan Dhan Account in their account, PM Kisan Scheme – Rs 2000 in every three months in their account, free rice distribution – 5 kg per head in every month of this lock down period and time of crisis, and supplying water supply to every house hold in rural areas under JJM scheme, etc for all the above welfare Schemes and Developments, citizens in Garo hills have appreciated the party’s performance,” believes the BJP in Garo Hills.

Thomas N Marak also stated that BJP will face the next General Assembly Elections in Meghalaya on its own performance and is confident of winning maximum seats from Garo hills and Meghalaya.
