Shillong, Dec 17: The Parliamentary Party of BJP Meghalaya unit led by its leader AL Hek today met Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik at Raj Bhawan, Shillong.
The delegation sought for Governor’s intervention for the appointment of a female Vice-Chancellor at the prestigious North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.
“Since NEHU is catering for all the North-Eastern states, we have requested the Governor to take up with the Union Education Minister if we can have a very qualified candidate from our State preferably given to the candidate from our State if it’s possibly the female candidate,” Hek told Hub News.
ILP has been a major issue lingering in the State, Hek said, “We discussed the issues of ILP since the Governor is going very soon to Delhi. We have requested the Governor to take up this issue with the Prime Minister as well as with the Union Home Minister.”
The third issue that was discussed by the BJP legislators was regarding talks with banned outfit HNLC.
