Gangtok, Mar 23: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will contest the Lok Sabha elections in Sikkim without any alliance.
In 2019, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) were in alliance with BJP and both have contested the Lok Sabha elections together.
Speaking to media persons, Sikkim BJP president Dilli Ram Thapa said, “We have decided to contest the Lok Sabha election without any alliance in Sikkim,”.
Thapa said that after the meeting of State BJP leaders with central BJP in New Delhi the decission has been taken to go solo in Sikkim elections.
“We are confident of 25 candidates, these are fresh faces and some senior leaders. Among the 12 sitting legislators, 3-4 have retained. Other legislators have the free will to contest with our without legislators,” stated BJP president.
