Guwahati, Feb 27: Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to field its candidates from the newly formed Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat.
Talking to reporters, Hazarika said AGP contested in the Kaliabor seat last time out of which Kaziranga seat has been formed and BJP has been hoping to get a chance to field their candidate at this seat.
“We will definitely demand that we should field our candidate at Kaziranga. Last time the AGP contested here, so this time we should get the chance to contest from newly formed Kaziranga seat. But the decision will be taken by our party leadership,” Hazarika said.
BJP is yet to announce its seat sharing for its NDA allies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Regarding the recent round of defections from the Congress party, Hazarika said that the Congress party is experiencing a storm and it would finish them off.
After delimitation, the Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat has been born out from Kaliabor.
