Udalguri, Mar 27: In a recent social media storm, a photograph of Benjamin Basumatary, the VCDC Chairman of Vairaguri, under Bodoland Territorial Council, has sparked controversy. The image shows Basumatary sleeping on a bed with a huge stack of 500-rupee notes placed atop him.
This viral picture has raised many questions, especially considering Basumatary’s affiliation with the United People’s Party Liberal, which flaunts itself on its zero-tolerance stand against corruption.
UPPL President Pramod Boro has always stood by the party’s commitment to transparency and integrity. The emergence of this photograph has ignited controversy and calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Basumatary’s association with the cash stack, raising questions about accountability within the party.
