Shillong, May 21: The body of a 54-year-old man who was reportedly missing has been found floating in the Umiam River at Umroi Nongrah, Ri Bhoi District on Tuesday.
The man has been identified as Ron Cooper Massar, a resident of Umroi Jaiawpdeng, Ri Bhoi District. He had been reported missing since Monday around 4:00 AM from his residence while he went for a morning jog, according to the police.
There is no official information regarding the cause of death, but it is suspected to be a case of drowning. However, the police are still investigating. Police also informed that the body has been shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.
Massar is currently serving as the Junior Engineer (JE) in Water Conservation, Government of Meghalaya.
