Tura, April 18: One boy Niksrap Sangma 16 years of Gondengre village has drowned in the Simsang river at Rongkem picnic spot during Easter Monday picnic.

East Garo Hills SP Bruno A Sangma informed that Fireservice teams have rushed to the spot in search of the boy and rescue operations are underway.

The police has appealed to public to stay away from water bodies particularly rivers, because of strong water current caused by heavy rains in the past few days.
