Tura, Aug 19: The much-anticipated culmination of the 2023 Inter Mahari Football Tournament saw A.gitok Mahari emerge victorious after a compelling encounter against Te.gite.
The final match, which unfolded at Tura’s historic PA Sangma Stadium on Saturday, culminated in A.gitok’s victory with a decisive scoreline of 1-0.
In a showdown that had fans on the edge of their seats, A.gitok managed to secure their goal just 5 minutes prior to the end of regulation time.
Celebrating its third edition this year, the Inter Mahari Football Tournament once again showcased the prowess and competitive spirit of the Mahari community’s football talents.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, along with other dignitaries, was among the spectators to witness the finale as the chief guest, adding a touch of magnificence to the match. Prior to the start of the match, he met with the players of both teams and encouraged to give their best. Later, he handed over the medals and prizes to the winning and runner up teams and also to other standout players.

Top Scorer: Chekam Tangrik B. Marak from Bolwari Mahati. Marak scored an impressive 8 goals across 3 matches.
Best Player: Bardy Sangma of Agitok. Sangma was recognized as the Best Player of the tournament for his standout contributions to his team’s journey to victory.
Best Goalkeeper: Jayangbirth T. Sangma from Te.gite.
Best Disciplined Team: Bolwari Mahari showcased exemplary discipline, earning them the recognition of being the Best Discipline Team.
The 2023 edition of the Inter Mahari Football Tournament not only showcased the exceptional football talents within the Mahari community but also celebrated the camaraderie and passion that unite players and fans alike.
