Tura, Feb 18: A trader from Assam dealing in the Jaru/broomstick business by selling this precious commodity from the Garo Hills region to other states has been brutally murdered at the hands of three criminals who lost their patience after he refused to pay up Rs 50,000 demanded as extortion money on the 11th of February in the Damal Asim region of Daddengre in West Garo Hills district.
The innocent victim Asad Ali, s/o Shri. Abdul Korim R/ o Sundarpur PS:- Fakirganj , Dhubri , Assam was reportedly missing from Jangrapara since 11th February 2022.
As soon as West Garo Hills police got the news of his disappearance they launched a search and simultaneous investigation which resulted in three persons being quickly apprehended on Wednesday.
The three accused persons are identified as,
1) Nikseng R Marak, son of Dalmen A Sangma, resident of Tebonggre, police station Damal Asim
2) Nobel M Sangma S/ o Shri. Belonsing R/o Tebonggre PS:- Damal Asim
3) Altu M Sangma S/o Shri. Walen M Marak R/o Dabigre PO & PS:- Dadenggre
During interrogation by the police investigation team, the three accused persons admitted that the missing person came to Dabigre village on 11th February 2022 for buying broom. They waylaid him and demanded Rs. 50,000/- from him as extortion money. When the victim declined to pay, they killed him instantly and hid the dead body somewhere at Baljek Aduma ( Adim-dim) Village.
Later, they led the Police team to the hiding place and dead body was recovered.
After completing all legal formalities, the body has been sent to Tura Civil Hospital for post mortem examination and case has been registered vide Dadenggre PS Case No. 01(02)22 U/S 120B/364/302 IPC.
All three suspects arrested and investigation is on.
