Agartala, Dec 2: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for ensuring the safety of the 856 km India-Bangladesh border through effective border fencing, advanced surveillance technology, and strong community relations.
Speaking at the 60th Raising Day of the BSF, Saha highlighted the force’s role in curbing cross-border crimes. “Efforts are underway to strengthen border fencing and improve the welfare of BSF personnel. We are committed to ensuring your security,” he stated.
Officials reported the apprehension of 675 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh this year, including 55 Rohingyas. Additionally, contraband worth Rs 46 crore has been seized, underscoring the BSF’s vigilance.
Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, stressed the importance of countering technological threats from terrorists. “As terrorists use advanced technology, we must respond efficiently and effectively,” he said, reaffirming the BSF’s commitment to tackling smuggling, infiltration, and illegal migration.
