BSF conducts career counselling for college students at Dalu Phukan Memorial College

TURA, Nov 15: Providing crucial inputs for young college students as they prepare to face the world amid competition in employment opportunities, the BSF in Garo Hills organised a Career counselling on job placement, Border issues, Social Issues and also inaugurated a computer lab at Phukan Memorial College of Dalu on Wednesday.

The event was jointly organised by the IQAC of the college and 100 Bn of Border Security Force.

As many as 250 enthusiastic students took part in the counselling programme gaining new insights on career opportunities and crucial issues relating to the border region.

During the programme an interactive panel discussion was also held giving opportunity for exchange of ideas and opinions between the speakers and the attendees.

Showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region, special songs and dances of the Garos, including Garo Folk song, Wangala dance, Koch Folk dance, Hajong Folk dance and Bengali folk dance were also performed by Phukan Memorial College students during the programme.

The 100 Bn of Border Security Force (BSF) under the leadership of Sh. A K Tiwari, the Commanding Officer of the company donated 3 (three) computer desktops to the college during the programme.

“The programme was not just about learning from the experts but also networking and building connections among the participants and the organisers; and we have the opportunity to meet and interact between the speakers and the attendees, and these connections can be precious in our future careers” stated Mr. Dimseng K. Marak, Principal of the college. He also expressed his gratitude to the 100 Bn of BSF for their initiative, dedication, support, time spent and their generous contributions of three number of computer desktop to the college. The Dy. Commandant, Assistant Commandant, Subedar Major and other female officials of the company also participated in the programme.

The programme was hosted by Ms. Tangkame K Sangma, Coordinator, IQAC & Assistant Professor Department of English, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Sanchaita R Marak, Assistant Professor Department of English.
