Shillong, May 10: The Border Security Force (BSF) of Meghalaya apprehended two Indian nationals carrying Bangladeshi currency worth 3,40,000 Taka near the International border (IB) in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
In an official press release, BSF Meghalaya informed us that the operation was carried out on May 9 by 4th Battalion BSF troops acting on specific intelligence. The BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement of two individuals along the Indo-Bangladesh border near the Border Outpost (BOP) Nayabazar. Upon searching the suspects, the BSF recovered a bag containing 3,40,000 Bangladeshi Taka in denominations of 500.
During preliminary questioning, the apprehended individuals identified themselves as Balanus Mawroh, a resident of Nongjri Wahsier village, and Enterness Khongsni, hailing from Nongjritluh village in the East Khasi Hills district. They revealed that the Bangladeshi currency in their possession was intended for illegal cross-border activities.
The BSF handed over the apprehended persons and the seized currency to the Pynursla Police Station for further legal action.
