Shillong, Dec 23: In its continuous efforts to keep the border crime and smuggling free, troops of the 4th Battalion of BSF Meghalaya on Thursday foiled smuggling attempt and seized cosmetics and clothing items worth Rs. 21 lakhs from bordering areas of East Khasi Hills.
The consignment was being carried as head loads by miscreants near the international boundary with intention of crossing them to Bangladesh.
“Miscreants ran towards Bangladesh side on being challenged by BSF and left behind their head loads. The seized items (have been) handed over to customs office Pynursla for further investigation and legal action,” a press communique from BSF said.
In the year 2022, BSF Meghalaya has seized cosmetics and clothing items worth Rs. 3.30 Crore.
