Shillong, Dec 1: On the occasion of the 60th Border Security Force (BSF) Raising Day, a grand ‘Barakhana’ (or feast) was organized at the Frontier Headquarters in Meghalaya, bringing together personnel from all units under BSF Meghalaya.

The event was marked by great enthusiasm and fervor, as BSF personnel, their families, and retirees from Meghalaya gathered to celebrate this significant milestone in the history of the BSF.

The Barakhana, a traditional meal shared by the force members, was held with the participation of both active BSF personnel and retirees who had served the force with dedication over the years. The retirees, many of whom had served in various capacities, shared their experiences and expressed their pride in being part of the BSF’s illustrious legacy. The occasion highlighted the strong sense of camaraderie and commitment that the force continues to foster in its ranks.

BSF’s Raising Day, commemorating the establishment of the force on December 1, 1965, serves as a reminder of the crucial role the BSF plays in ensuring the security of India’s borders, particularly in the border areas of Meghalaya, where the force has a significant presence.

As the BSF enters its 60th year of existence, the raising day celebrations serve as a testament to the sacrifices made by its personnel in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. The spirit of teamwork, discipline, and resilience that defines the BSF was evident throughout the event.
