Shillong, Jan 11: BSF Meghalaya continued with its anti-smuggling drive on the International Border with Bangladesh. The increasing trend of dry pea smuggling in the border led to BSF on foot.
In the intervening night of 10-11 Jan 2021, troops of 43 Bn BSF confiscated one Tata truck loaded with more than 13 Tons Dry pea in Rongra, South Garo Hills. The total seizure made was worth more than INR 22 Lac although, the driver managed to escape from the spot. In the past year, BSF Meghalaya seized 400 Tons of dry pea which could have the potential to disturb the commodity market of any nation.
The alert and vigil sentinels are kept on foiling attempts of border miscreants from time to time. In view of increasing smuggling attempts, BSF has intensified its vigil and operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to belie the expectations of trans-border criminals.
