Shillong, Jan 26: Troops of 172 Bn BSF Meghalaya deployed at Lamasaki area seized cache of medicines worth Rs 27.5 Lakhs based on a tip off on 25th January.
The consignment was hidden in the jungle close to International Border by smugglers for further crossing over to Bangladesh during night hours through unfenced patches.
Indian pharmaceutical products have worldwide rapport for lesser prices as compared to that of Bangladesh and are in high demand.
The seized items have been handed over to the concerned custom office for further investigation and necessary action.
The BSF is dedicated to stop illegal cross-border activities for safeguarding the nation’s interests. The BSF also urged the residents of border areas to report any suspicious activities to local authorities.
