Guwahati, Aug 27: The PRIME startup hub of Meghalaya could have an Austrian connection.

In a significant step towards enhancing international cooperation in entrepreneurship, PRIME Startup Hub Meghalaya organized a roundtable discussion on Friday, August 23, at the PRIME Hub in Shillong.

The event saw the participation of key officials from the Austrian Embassy, alongside representatives from PRIME Startup Hub Meghalaya, industry stakeholders, and local startups. The initiative, backed by the Government of Meghalaya, aimed to showcase the state’s burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem and explore avenues for collaboration with Austria.

Prominent attendees included Ajay Singh, Head of Technology and Innovation at the Austrian Embassy’s Commercial Section, and Arun Verma, Advisor on Organizational Matters at Vantage Info. Other notable figures were Aditya Sen, Program Head of PRIME Startup Hub, Jacqueline Swer, Senior Manager at PRIME Startup Hub, Jefferson Rani, Manager of Partnerships, and several startup founders incubated under PRIME Startup Hub Meghalaya.

The discussions revolved around potential collaborations in key industries such as adventure tourism, waste management, healthcare, creative services, and bio-char production. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to establishing a strategic plan aimed at fostering a bridge of collaboration between Austria and the Govt. of Meghalaya, with the ultimate goal of driving entrepreneurial growth and innovation in the region.
Following the discussions, the delegates toured various startups in Ri Bhoi district, including Rynsan Creation Pvt. Ltd.’s food processing unit, Whitewater Village in Umtham, Mei-Ram-Ew traditional food café, and the Ri & Last Eri Silk Weaving & Dyeing Unit.

They also held a meeting with Dr. Vijay Kumar Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, and CEO of PRIME Startup Hub Meghalaya.

The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations to strengthen the state’s startup ecosystem, particularly through enhanced market and technology connections.

This collaborative effort underscores the importance of leveraging international partnerships to empower local entrepreneurs, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Meghalaya through shared expertise and innovation.
